A Simple Re-set

A Simple Re-set

I don’t know about you, but for me, sometimes just getting away from your regular life for 24 hours is a good idea. This opportunity presented itself for me recently, and I’m so happy I took advantage of it.

My husband had a short conference about an hour and a half away from home. After setting up care for the kids (thanks Aunt Mick!), we booked a room at the conference hotel and made plans to meet friends for dinner.

Turns out we hadn’t seen our friends in quite a bit due to the pandemic, so it was very nice to catch up in person while enjoying a nice meal.  And, we made sure to make plans to see each other again soon!

The next day, while my husband was at the conference, I slept late, stretched, and spent some time reading.  Then, I headed to Starbucks to get a yummy coffee and pastry.  Next up, a swim in the beautiful indoor pool.  The pool was so nice and warm, it was actually too nice for real exercise.

After my swim, I got ready for the day, packed up our stuff, and checked out (I had asked for a slightly late checkout and was granted one without any issues).  The front desk staff held onto a few bags for me while I had lunch in the hotel restaurant.  I was able to read more during lunch and was smart enough to order a hummus appetizer “to go” to serve as my afternoon snack.  Then, I set up shop at a quiet workspace for the afternoon.  I was actually able to tackle several items on my to do list and before I knew it, my husband’s meeting was over and it was time to head home.

Not a luxurious getaway, but it ended up being the perfect change of scenery for me and allowed me to re-set, which I very much appreciated.
