Is ‘Industrial Chic’ Hotel Décor Style for You?

Is ‘Industrial Chic’ Hotel Décor Style for You?

You finally feel comfortable traveling again this summer after a long pause on everything fun during the pandemic.  You might be booking a hotel room in your destination.  Are you selective with the décor style of the hotel in which you choose to stay?

Recently, a friend stayed in an ‘industrial chic’ hotel, a converted textile mill on the river.  She discovered that ‘industrial chic’ was not for her.  Yes, she appreciated that the room was clean and neatly decorated.  What she didn’t like was the exposed ducts and pipes running throughout the hotel ceilings and corridors.  The unfinished concrete ceiling with unique stain patterns that she had to stare up at from bed also gave her fright.  The unavoidable exposed concrete walls surrounding all sides of the room did not provide relief.  The fact that she was staying alone in the room didn’t help.

She still wouldn’t love this décor, even if she was in a jolly mood.  The sliding hanging door to the bathroom was cool, while the curvature of the shower area protruding into the room caused some bruises as a few people in her group reported bumping into it.  Of our group of friends who stayed at the hotel during the same weekend, half of the group loved the décor style of the hotel, while the other half didn’t.  Could 'industrial chic' décor be this polarizing?  Are you particular with the décor style of the hotel when you travel?
