Eating in Style: The Social House - Manchester, VT
Ok - loving this place so much, I almost don't want to write about it because I don't want more people to discover it. (Selfish, I know.) We passed by this restaurant on our way to Manchester several times. The outdoor seating looked so pretty, I would always say, "we need to try that place," but then would forget, and the next time we were in the area, we would head to one of the places we had eaten at previously. Thankfully, our friend was with us on one of these trips and she texted me the restaurant name to remind me: The Social House.
We have now eaten at The Social House three times and we've been so pleased with each experience: an exquisitely prepared Sunday brunch; a super fun, superbly delicious group dinner; and our first indoor dinner out in 2021. The menu is relatively small, but when I say everything is fabulous, I truly mean it. There are only delicious options on the menu. They put as much effort into the presentation as they do the preparation, so you know you are about to eat something phenomenal.
The patio seating is really nicely done with bright yellow umbrellas and string lighting. For our group dinner, we reserved way in advance for a group of 8. Lucky for us, their fire table accommodates 8, so we were in for a real treat even in late September, when it is quite chilly in Vermont. There was plenty of warmth radiating from the table, which also created a festive atmosphere. (We felt a bit guilty as others passed by because the fire table is definitely the best seating available.)
There is no official children's menu, but since they cook everything to order, they are able to offer dishes without the usual accompaniments to make them more kid-friendly. Even so, if you have picky kids, this probably isn't the place for a family meal. For our group birthday celebration, it was perfect with everyone loving what they ordered. For our intimate, indoor dinner, I don't even remember what we ordered. I just remember it was delicious and it was so nice to be eating such well-prepared food.
